This page once served a purpose, giving the 'what is overnight care' question its own page. Since recent algorithm updates, and with the way the search landscape has changed, search engines and AI search now favour one complete page that covers a topic in full, so a separate page is no longer required. The useful content from it has been brought into this page: who waking nights suit, a typical night with an overnight carer, and our directly employed carers.

(142)Overnight care at home with waking or sleeping night carers, tailored to you or a loved one. CQC and CIW regulated. Rated Excellent on Trustpilot. (146)

Why: 'Specialists' carries no search demand. The recommended title adds 'night carers' (200 a month) and 'at home' (overnight home care, 140) alongside 'overnight care' (480). It also stops the service page chasing 'waking night care' head-on, a term the benefits article currently ranks for; the alternative keeps it if you would rather compete for it here. The description swaps 'Discover more' for what the service actually is, plus two trust facts already stated on the site.

Overnight care means a trained Helping Hands carer is with you through the night, so you or your loved one have support at the times it is needed most. You can choose a waking night, where your carer stays awake all night, or a sleeping night, where they rest in your home but are on hand whenever you need them. Every overnight care plan is built around your needs and agreed with your local care manager, and our service is regulated by the Care Quality Commission and Care Inspectorate Wales.

NewA short intro so the page answers 'what is this and is it for me' before the first H2. It uses only facts already on the page (waking and sleeping nights, local care manager, CQC and CIW regulation), so nothing new needs signing off. Plain paragraph, not a heading.

H2What is overnight care?

Overnight care is when a carer stays overnight to assist with any care needs you may have.

With overnight care, a private carer will stay with you throughout the night to provide personal care and companionship at the times you most need them. Whatever your personal needs, your carer will be able to support and assist you so that you're able to maintain your independence and confidence at all hours.

Overnight care is specifically for those who have additional needs throughout the night, require 24-hour care or become more anxious during the early hours by themselves.

Not a heading We offer the following types of overnight care:

H3Sleeping night

With sleeping night care, your Helping Hands carer sleeps in your home throughout the night but is on hand if you need support at any time

H3Waking night

Waking night carer means your carer will stay awake throughout the night so that they can provide specialist care whenever you require

H3Sitting service

When you opt for a sitting service, a carer will stay awake and cover for a regular carer who would normally provide your care full-time

ChangedH2 kept as is. The lead-in line drops from H4 to plain text (it keeps its large purple styling) and the three type cards move from H5 to H3, so the outline no longer skips levels. H2Why choose overnight care?

Overnight care supports your independence and provides reassurance to your loved ones.

With overnight care from Helping Hands, you have the constant reassurance that there is someone there to provide you with support and companionship when you're at your most vulnerable. Here are just some of the ways in which you can benefit from overnight care:

⚒

All of our carers are fully trained to provide dedicated, condition-led support, whether your needs are straightforward or complex

♡
H3Constant reassurance

Having an overnight carer means you can go to bed each night safe in the knowledge that you've got someone on hand to help out in an emergency

☻

If you struggle to sleep, you may benefit from having someone to chat to at points in the night, or to bring you a cup of something warm to drink

♿

Your carer can provide you with physical support throughout the night, such as helping you get in and out of bed and turning you over safely

✿

Our carers are all trained to provide discreet personal care, such as helping with toileting and dressing, and can also assist with your medication

⚑

An overnight carer also provides your loved ones with peace of mind that you're in safe hands, especially if you're receiving palliative care

ChangedThe six benefit titles move from H5 to H3. New link on 'palliative care' to the palliative care service page, and 'benefit from overnight care' now links to the benefits of overnight care article, so the service page and article support each other. The 'Constant reassurance' card link is removed: it pointed to the what-is-overnight-care page, which is being merged into this one (Recommendations, point 9). Other card links kept.

Care during the night is suitable for anyone in need of extra support overnight.

We'll ensure we put the right level of support in place to ensure you're never left feeling isolated, so that you and your loved ones have peace of mind that you're being looked after no matter the hour.

Not a heading You might consider overnight care if you:

An overnight carer can offer expert support throughout the night for those living with a medical condition

H3Experience regular falls

A carer can boost your independence in the night by helping you get out of bed and to the bathroom

H2What to expect from an overnight carer

For waking nights or sitting care, your overnight carer will generally arrive in the evening at around 9pm and stay for approximately 10 hours. There may be a slight overlap with another carer if you receive care throughout the day or if a Helping Hands carer is taking over from your regular caregiver whilst they take a break. They will then be there until the morning, again at a prearranged time with your local care manager, which will all be discussed and confirmed at your initial meeting.

For sleeping nights, your carer will more than likely already be living with you in your home as a live-in carer, so you won't have to arrange a time for your carer to arrive like you would for a waking nights carer.

H2FAQs

Currently: H2 "Overnight care FAQs"

FAQ questions are accordion buttons, not headings, and are marked up with FAQPage schema. The H2 loses its stray bold tag.

What do night time carers do?⌄
Night time carers, or overnight carers, provide constant support, companionship and reassurance throughout the night. They can help with just about anything, from mobility assistance to helping you visit the toilet and take the right medication.
What is classed as overnight care? Changed answer⌄
Overnight care involves a carer staying in your home overnight to provide care whenever required. This can be a waking night, where your carer stays awake throughout, or a sleeping night, where they sleep in a separate room but are on hand if you need them. This form of specialised care helps people with essential activities, such as using the toilet, medication dosing, food & drink preparation and personal hygiene. A waking night typically lasts 10 hours.

Current answer: Overnight care involves a waking night carer staying in your home overnight to provide care whenever required. This form of specialised care helps people with essential activities, such as using the toilet, medication dosing, food & drink preparation and personal hygiene. The care typically lasts 10 hours.

How do I arrange overnight care?⌄
You can arrange overnight care by calling our friendly customer support team. They're available seven days a week, and are always happy to assist with any queries you may have.
What is a waking night carer? Changed answer⌄
A waking night carer stays awake and provides essential support throughout the night, tailored to your condition. This is often confused with a sleeping night carer, who sleeps in a separate room in your home and is on hand if you need support during the night.

Current answer: A waking night carer provides essential support services throughout the night tailored to your condition. This is often confused with a sleeping carer, where assistance throughout the night is provided, but not on a regular basis.

How much does overnight care cost? New⌄
Overnight care with Helping Hands is available from £255 per night. Your exact cost depends on the type of overnight care and how many nights you need. You can see a full breakdown on our cost of overnight care page, or call our team for a personalised quote. £255 taken from the cost of overnight care page, 13 October 2026. Confirm it is current at launch
Can I get help paying for overnight care? New⌄
Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for help with the cost. If your needs are mainly health-related, you may qualify for NHS Continuing Healthcare, and your local authority can carry out a needs and financial assessment. Benefits such as Attendance Allowance may also help. Our funding options page explains more. Client to confirm funding wording, including whether NHS or council-funded overnight packages are accepted
What is the difference between a waking night and a sleeping night? New⌄
With a waking night, your carer stays awake all night in a separate room, so they can provide proactive support and monitor more complex needs. With a sleeping night, your carer sleeps in your home and you can call on them at any time. Sleeping nights are usually part of live-in care.
What is a night sitter? New⌄
A night sitter is a carer who stays awake overnight to keep someone safe and comfortable, often so a family member or regular carer can rest. At Helping Hands, this is our sitting service: a carer stays awake through the night and covers for the person who usually provides care.
Is overnight care available near me? New⌄
We provide overnight care through our local branches. Use our branch finder to find your nearest team, or call us and we will check availability where you live. Client to confirm coverage wording, for example England and Wales
Can I have overnight care for a short time, such as respite? New⌄
Yes. Overnight care can be arranged for a single night, for a short period or on an ongoing basis. Many families use it so a loved one who provides care during the day can get a proper night's sleep. Find out more about our respite care.
ChangedH2 shortened to 'FAQs'. Four current FAQs kept. Two answers edited, with the changed wording highlighted and the current answer shown underneath (removed wording struck through): 'What is classed as overnight care?' says it involves a waking night carer, which leaves out sleeping nights, and the waking night answer ends on a confusing sentence about sleeping carers. Six new questions, chosen from UK search demand (see Recommendations). As answers have changed, the page will need re-review by the clinical reviewer.

What's changed

Fibre Marketing, 13 October 2026. Page: https://www.helpinghandshomecare.co.uk/home-care-services/overnight-care/. One redirect: /home-care-services/overnight-care/what-is-overnight-care/ is merged into this page with a 301. No other URLs change.

The problem

The page has good content but a broken outline. Headings jump from H2 to H4, H5 and H6; card titles, lead-in sentences, comparison rows and even duplicate story titles are marked up as headings; and one section heading talks about visiting and live-in care. Search engines and AI tools use headings to understand what a page covers, so this makes the page harder to read for machines than it is for people. It also lacks a short introduction and the questions families ask most, about cost, funding and night sitters. And the topic is split with the what-is-overnight-care page, which covers the same ground.

The evidence

UK search demand (Mangools, 13 October 2026): overnight care 480 a month, overnight care for elderly 350, night time carers and night carers 200 each, overnight carers cost 180, waking night care 160, NHS night carers 160, overnight home care 140. In the live results for 'overnight care' (map pack and People Also Ask showing) the service page did not appear in the top 9, and the top result was an informational 'what is overnight care' guide. For 'waking night care' the Helping Hands benefits of overnight care article ranked 4th and the service page did not appear. For 'what is overnight care' (14 October 2026) neither the service page nor the what-is-overnight-care page appeared in the top 9; a competitor's overnight care service page ranked 3rd.

What we kept

The H1, hero image and CTAs; the three H2s 'What is overnight care?', 'Why choose overnight care?' and 'Who is overnight care for?'; all existing body copy, apart from light copy fixes; the four existing FAQs; every existing internal link except the one to the page being merged; all CTAs, story buttons and related pages.

What changed

Heading levels throughout, so the outline runs H1 to H4 without gaps. The regulation block is renamed 'A fully regulated overnight care provider' and raised to H2. 'Our carers are always:' stops being its own H2 and sits under 'Carers who truly make a difference'. The FAQ heading is shortened to 'FAQs'. The what-is-overnight-care page is merged into this page with a 301 redirect. Two FAQ answers are edited for accuracy, with the changes highlighted in the wireframe. Minor copy fixes in the regulation block and the 'Types' intro.

What is new

Trustpilot rating in the hero; a three-sentence introduction; six FAQs; content brought across from the what-is-overnight-care page (who waking nights suit, a typical night with an overnight carer, directly employed carers); twelve internal links; a new title and meta description; Service and FAQPage schema, with the reviewer added to the WebPage schema.

Still to do

Set up the 301 redirect, repoint internal links to this page and remove the old URL from the sitemap. Clinical re-review of the edited and new FAQ answers and the content brought across from the what-is-overnight-care page.

Flagged for the client

The '£255 per night' figure, taken from the cost of overnight care page on 13 October 2026, needs confirming as current at launch. Funding answer wording, including whether NHS or council-funded overnight packages are accepted. Coverage wording for 'Is overnight care available near me?'. The updated review date once the page has been re-reviewed.

Schema

The code below is an example to show the approach. Validated code follows once the page is signed off. Values in [square brackets] need confirming.

Currently on the page: WebPage and BreadcrumbList. Both stay.

1. Service (new)

Tells search engines and AI tools plainly that this page is a service Helping Hands provides, and lists the three types. It points to the existing Organization so the provider is one consistent entity across the site. Owner: Dev.

2. WebPage (update the existing markup)

Adds the clinical reviewer and review date already shown on the page, and connects the page to the Service. This puts the page's existing expert review into a form machines read, without changing the page type. Owner: Dev.

3. FAQPage (new)

Marks up all ten questions. The text must match what is visible on the page word for word. Google now only shows FAQ rich results for a small set of authoritative government and health sites, so do not expect the expandable result in search. The value is clear question and answer pairs for AI search and assistants. Owner: Dev.

4. BreadcrumbList (keep)

No change.

What we are deliberately not marking up

TypeWhy not
AggregateRating / ReviewThe Trustpilot rating is about the whole organisation and is collected by a third party. Google does not show review stars for a business marking up reviews of itself, and it risks a manual action.
Review for Kathleen's and Enid's storiesThese are customer stories, not reviews, and they are about live-in care.
Offer with a priceThe price lives on the cost of overnight care page and can change. Keeping it out of this page's schema avoids two places to update.
HowTo for the three stepsGoogle has retired HowTo rich results, and the steps are a sales process rather than instructions.
LocalBusinessThis is a national service page. Local markup belongs on branch pages.
MedicalWebPageWe suggested it for the 24-hour care page. It is an option here for consistency, but overnight care is a care service rather than medical information, and WebPage with reviewedBy carries the reviewer signal without it.
